Lilia Popa

Business: Selling socks and hosiery in the central market in Chisniau. Lilia travels to Odessa, Ukraine, and purchases her goods at the seaport there. She brings her goods to market each day, sets up and sells, and then packs everything up and goes home at night. She works with her husband and daughter in the market. Their son is still in school. The Invest-Credit loan allowed her to buy in bulk and increase her profit margin significantly.

Lending History:1st loan: $3,000. She is paying back the loan on schedule.

Working with CAMED since 2004.

Employees: 3

Households supported: 3 (4 people)

How has the loan changed her life? The loan has allowed her to buy at wholesale prices and increase her profit margin. The "socks stand" now generates enough profit to comfortably support the family.

Note: Lilian was away from the shop when we visited. Her husband and daughter are pictured.
