Business: Tailor
Dora has a kiosk on one of the boulevards in the capital city of Moldova. Her clientele are walk-ins from the surrounding city area.
Lending History: 1st loan: $2,000 paid back in 4 months.
Working with CAMED (Integra) since 2004.
Employees: 1
Households supported: 1 (3 people)
Plans to grow the business:
1-Continue to offer a premium service for a good price. Dora likes working with her hands and models her business practice around Biblical models: she is courteous to her customers (unique in Moldova); does quality work on time. Her business is growing by word-of-mouth recommendations.
2-Hopes to hire a worker and then start making clothes for sale.
How has the loan changed your life? Dora had to sell her farm and move to the city in 2003 due to her husband’s health. Ghenna Russo came to her church and talked about CAMED and she applied for a loan. She started this business based on skills she learned as a youngster, and her strengths of warmth and relationship building. Her tailoring business has given her the opportunity to meet new people, get to know them, care for them, and provide a needed service. Her business is growing, allowing her to care for her husband and teenage son (and repay her CAMED loan).
Note: Dora shared how being a Christian in business, using ethical standards and practices, and showing genuine care and love for her customers has caused her business to grow. She is a living example of how CAMED can change lives. |
